La Jolla means “the jewel” in Spanish, and after a visit to this ocean side community and its picturesque beaches and coves, you will understand why. While you may try to live on sun and sand alone, the numerous boutiques, galleries and restaurants will feed your soul. Upscale shopping and dining is plentiful in La Jolla, with high-end retail shops lining the streets and fine eateries perched atop jagged cliffs. The ocean views are simply breathtaking. La Jolla is also home to Torrey Pines State Reserve and the renowned Torrey Pines Golf Course. Climb to the top of the reserve for a glimpse at dolphins playing in the sunset.
